ENSURE STUDENT SAFETY

The District has a responsibility to create a more equitable future for its students. This starts with providing safe and reliable transportation options to schools in both sectors. The current options are insufficient and put students at risk, affecting their education.

Substantive and equitable transportation funding is crucial in providing students with a proper education. The District must invest in safe passage, safe school climates, and robust transportation options for DCPS and public charter school students.

The District must also prioritize school transit and ensure all students have access to school and out-of-school activities, including the effective administration of the Kids Ride Free program.

School transit is essential to a student’s education, but current options are inadequate and put students in danger. To ensure a better future, the District must also ensure that students can travel to and from school safely and easily, with significant input from the very communities who rely on access to schools and public transportation.
